It's no secret that nomadic peoples wore their riches everyday in case they needed to make a quick escape. It was certainly easier than packing a suitcase. Jewelry not only indicated status but also the wearer's favorite jewels and protective charms so that each piece was a unique reflection of its owner, much like this Charmed Gypsy Necklace. An arc of hammered copper is beaded with a selection of one of a kind Czech glass beads, most with a Picasso finish, in shades of turquoise, red, black, green and cream. A rustically wire wrapped 13mm Swarovski Red Magma skull bead with a crystal collar dangles center stage, and is joined by metal feather, crown and cross charms, plus additional Czech beads and vintage blue German glass jewel drops. Immediately above the copper arc is a section of vintage aurora borealis coated purple glass rosary chain for added interest and sparkle. Sturdy vintage etched copper cable chain completes the twenty-one inch long necklace that closes with an oxidized copper lobster clasp. (I never tire of the word "vintage"!) A wire wrapped peach moonstone bead dangle finishes the chain.
The Charmed Gypsy Necklace--charming, should you need to make a quick escape.
