Every time I visit the ocean I want to bottle it up and bring it back to the land locked Midwest so I can see it every day. I love watching the ocean colors shift throughout the day from cobalt to aqua to silvery blue green as the sunlight plays across the waves. Clearly, there is no substitute for the real ocean, but on my most recent trip to Florida I found the next best thing - stunning furnace glass beads with real ocean color and sparkle. Each handmade bead is unique; some are subtly striped and some are different sizes, but each displays a beautiful shade of ocean blue encased in clear glass. I made fifteen of them into dangly charms using handmade copper flower head pins, topped with antique copper disk beads and faceted Czech glass rondelles. Charms this special demanded special chain, so I handcrafted fifteen pure copper swan links from substantial 16 gauge wire and tumbled them for extra strength and sparkle. The links will gently patina over time. The perfect, secure closure? A vintage copper sailor clasp, of course! The bracelet measures seven and a half inches in length and will slouch comfortably over a small to medium wrist.
Whether you miss the ocean as I do or even if you are fortunate enough to see it every day, this bracelet will keep the ocean's colors always in your view!
**Please note--along with having no ocean the Midwest has not had much sunshine lately either! Pictures one, three and four were taken sans sunshine; for pictures two and five a few rays peeked through the clouds!
